Sinopsis: George Valentine es una estrella del cine mudo al que la fama le sonríe. Peppy Miller es una joven que quiere hacerse un hueco como actriz en el mundo del cine. La irrupción del cine sonoro marcará un antes y un después en estas dos vidas: el descenso de George al olvido y el ascenso de Peppy al estrellato.

- The Artist, narra la historia del ocaso de un actor por la transición del cine mudo al sonoro, justo como también lo hiciera Sunset Boulevard (1950).

Muy linda película. Si disfrutan de películas del estilo de Chaplin (1992) o la ya nombrada (Sunset Boulevard), esta les va a gustar.
Es en blanco y negro, 4:3 y muda. Los personajes hablan y solo a veces les ponen las tarjetas con lo que están diciendo, o sea, como se hacía antes.
Ambos actores están fantásticos (Jean Dujardin y Berenice Bejo) pero el perrito casi se roba la película, si lo ponían en la escena final se la robaba.
¿ Merece el Oscar a mejor película ? No lo sé, y me parece algo peligroso. Ya veo a los "genios" de Hollywood haciendo media docena más de películas en blanco y negro para ver si pueden meterse algún dólar en el bolsillo.
Lo curioso, es que Imelda May es la mejor cantante de Rockabilly y es irlandesa. Y The Artist es una de las mejores películas contemporáneas que muestran el cine en USA en la década del '30 y fue escrita, dirigida y protagonizada por franceses.
Probablemente el Blu-Ray que salga en USA sea Made in Mexico y si esta película no gana el Oscar probablemente la gane una película infantil hecha por un viejo de 70 años. ;-)

Paramount Home Entertainment have announced the US Blu-ray Disc release of Chinatown on 3rd April 2012. Starring Jack Nicholson, Faye Dunaway and John Huston, this classic is directed by Roman Polanski and written by Robert Towne. The film follows an intricate web of deception as private investigator Jake Gittes (Nicholson) unravels a mystery involving water rights that are critical to the development of Los Angeles, as well as unspeakable family secrets.
The Blu-ray boasts a new high definition transfer and packaging that features the original theatrical poster and includes a collectible booklet. The disc also includes over 2 ½ hours of bonus material (although there is no new content).

Historians, local ranchers and activists discuss the up-to-date impacts of the aqueduct and struggle to maintain a stable environment and community.
Part 3: The River & Beyond (HD)— Prior to the building of the first aqueduct a century ago Los Angeles relied solely on its own local water supply: the Los Angeles River and its aquifer. Today the river as a water resource is largely forgotten. Currently there are plans to re-develop the river to reduce L.A.’s dependence on imported water, reducing the environmental impact on distant communities, while creating parks and open spaces for the city.
